Wintergreen is an ideal species of grass for people who are looking for something reasonably low-maintenance and who don’t like to mow every week during Summer. The Wintergreen is great because it can be trimmed quite low due to its deep rooting, ensuring that you can go longer between mowing sessions. Home owners with highly shaded gardens may wish to consider a different species such as Nara turf, however, as the Wintergreen requires full sunlight for most of the day, especially if you intend to keep it unfertilised. Keeping the Wintergreen fertilised will help maintain its health, appearance and durability, so you may wish to keep this in mind when considering this turf species.
